In recent months, building proposals for two exceptionally important sites on the Upper East Side burst into the news: an enormous addition proposed for the FRICK COLLECTION and a new apartment tower next to the PARK AVENUE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
1006 Madison Avenue
A French Second Empire style residence designed by G. E. Knowlde and built in 1870, altered with a two-story commercial extension in the early 20th century. Application is to replace storefront infill.
15 East 90th Street
A neo-Federal style house designed by Mott B. Schmidt and built in 1927-28. Application is to legalize facade work performed without Landmarks Preservation Commission permits.
132 East 73rd Street
A neo- Grec style rowhouse designed by William McNamara, built in 1879-1880, and altered in the Medieval Revival style by John J. Foley in 1913. Application is to alter the facade and install an areaway fence.

LPC Reverses Decision on Potential Landmarks!!
As we announced earlier this week, the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) was poised to “de-calendar” nearly 100 buildings under consideration for landmark status in one fell swoop on Tuesday, December 9th.
LPC Action Could Endanger Potential Landmarks!!
On Tuesday, December 9th, the Landmarks Preservation Commission will vote on an administrative action to “de-calendar” nearly 100 buildings under consideration for landmark status. As an administrative action, there will be no opportunity for public comment and thus no public notification requirement.
