FRIENDS' Testimony:
Our Preservation Committee regrets the proliferation of through-the-wall air conditioning units at the iconic 740 Park Avenue. This proposal for ten additional penetrations through the solid limestone façade continues an unfortunate precedent that began before the building was designated as part of the Upper East Side Historic District in 1981. FRIENDS urges the Commission to work with the applicant to pursue a more appropriate solution and further recommends that the building institute a master plan.
