FRIENDS' Testimony:
When FRIENDS testified in 2016, we objected to the excessive height and depth of the proposed rear addition due to its encroachment on the historic rear "donut" and its adverse impact on neighboring properties. A decade later, we are deeply concerned to find that the building was constructed with even greater encroachment, blamed on a purported "construction error." The as-built third-floor rear wall extends approximately two feet beyond the approved limit, projecting past the neighboring façade and further compromising the adjacent property. This is not a minor deviation but a significant departure from the approved plans.

FRIENDS’ Preservation Committee strongly opposes any effort to legalize this non-compliant construction. Granting approval after the fact would undermine the integrity of the Commission's review process and establish a dangerous precedent by signaling that substantial departures from approved plans can be excused as construction errors.
