FRIENDS' Testimony:

The Preservation Committee at FRIENDS appreciates the effort made to remove the window and through-wall AC units at 737 Park Avenue. However, the proposed elevated pier and cooling towers are extremely obtrusive, with detrimental effects on this distinctive rooftop design. Our Committee asks the Commission to work with the applicant in finding a more appropriate configuration for the mechanical equipment or some other sensitive way of incorporating air conditioning into this building. If the proposed scheme is the only available solution, then our Committee recommends that this application be denied.
