FRIENDS' Testimony:
FRIENDS’ Preservation Committee does not object to recladding of the elements of
the lower two floors with black and white marble. We do not object to the proposed
canopies either. They are tasteful designs that fit well with the rest of the building
and the immediate neighborhood. They further accentuate the building’s entrance
by increasing visibility. However, we question whether or not an unbuilt design from
a historic brochure could be considered ‘original.’ We were unclear about the
rationale of this undertaking and therefore urge the clients to revise their project
rationale.
