FRIENDS' Testimony:

FRIENDS of the Upper East Side’s Preservation Committee was disappointed by the lack of clarity in the provided drawings. The visual impact from the public way could have been made clearer with the inclusion of detailed sections and higher quality photographs of the proposed mock-ups. We feel that some features, such as the 2 foot tall ornamental eagle sculptures and the stepped profile of the raised parapet wall would be distracting incursions on this visible roofline, and we would like to see a more thoroughly depicted study of the potential impact. While we are not opposed to this space being cleared of mechanical equipment and converted to a leisure area for club members, FRIENDS does not support this application.
