FRIENDS' Testimony:

The Preservation Committee at FRIENDS feels strongly about the importance of a historic building’s original window configuration. While no original windows exist at the J. E. R. Carpenter apartment building at 149 East 73rd Street, our office found a historic image at the Museum of the City of New York that clearly shows both 6/6 and 8/8 windows in place. A window master plan provides the opportunity to return the rhythm and texture of these multi-paned windows to the elegant façade. FRIENDS’ Preservation Committee urges the Commission to work with the applicant in creating a master plan that incorporates 6/6 and 8/8 multi-paned windows.
