Join FRIENDS and architectural historian Matt Postal for a stroll up Park Avenue. Learn how electrification of the New York Central Railroad in 1906 led to an extraordinarily varied building boom, including a late wave of neoclassical mansions, as well as important churches and distinctive apartment buildings. Likely highlights include the Colony Club, which relocated here from the East 30s, Central Presbyterian Church, formerly Park Avenue Baptist Church and a precursor to Riverside Church, and the Harold & Harriet Barnes Pratt House, now headquarters of the Council on Foreign Relations.
