Join FRIENDS and architectural historian Gregory Dietrich as he leads a walking tour of Yorkville’s most hallowed sites. Spanning East 88^th to East 61^st Streets, Gregory’s tour will encompass a wide array of churches, schools, and parish houses that were built to accommodate Yorkville’s diverse immigrant communities. Responding to both spiritual and social needs, these buildings reflect the English, German, Irish, Czech, Hungarian and Swedish immigrant communities that they original served, as well as newer immigrant groups who have adapted them as their own.

* Gregory Dietrich is a historic preservation professional with over 26 years of experience. A graduate of Columbia University’s Historic Preservation and Real Estate Development programs, he founded Gregory Dietrich Preservation in 2009, specializing in historic architectural and landscape studies, designation reports, tax credit applications, and grants. He has taught at NYU since 2018 and previously taught at the Fashion Institute of Technology. In addition to consulting and teaching, Gregory has also served as a guest lecturer, panelist, and tour guide at a range of educational, cultural, and civic institutions both here and abroad.
