A Walk in the Woodlands

Central Park's designer Frederick Law Olmsted said, "It is the one great Purpose of the Park to supply to tired workers a specimen of God's handiwork that shall be to them, inexpensively, what a month of the Adirondacks is, at great cost, to those in easier circumstances." We'll explore the North Woods, Central Park's largest woodlands, and see how its rolling hills, dramatic rock outcroppings, gentle stream, and three waterfalls magically transport you from the city. Along the way, we'll also skirt the Harlem Meer and the newly opened Davis Center/Gottesman Pool.

Come spend a beautiful morning in the North Woods with FRIENDS, Landmark West!, and former Central Park Conservancy guide Catherine Fredman.  Catherine has spent years sharing the history of Central Park and still finds new things to discover.
