Project Information:
A building constructed in Sweden for the 1876 Philadelphia Exposition in Fairmont Park, and moved to its current site within Central Park, an English Romantic style park designed in 1858 by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux. Application is to install two flag poles on the site.
LPC Hearing: 10/08/24 (favorable report)
FRIENDS' Testimony:
FRIENDS Preservation Committee finds proposed addition of two more flagpoles redundant. Given that the Swedish Cottage is a small rural structure, having three flagpoles seems excessive. We recommend that the Parks Department remove existing flagpole on the roof and keep only two proposed flagpoles on the ground.
