FRIENDS' Testimony:

Many of the proposed modifications to Central Park’s Wild West Playground seem to be improvements over the existing conditions. However, the Preservation Committee at FRIENDS had difficulty gaining a full understanding of the application due to a lack of sufficient details, for example there are no renderings of the replacement play equipment nor the completed proposal in its entirety. This site is a significant design by Richard Dattner and care should be taken to make alterations as unobtrusive as possible, while still complying with ADA requirements and CPSC safety standards. FRIENDS asks the Public Design Commission to approve only those changes that do not compromise the integrity of the Dattner’s original design.
