FRIENDS' Testimony:

FRIENDS Preservation Committee supports this sensible proposal. We support the removal of the existing rear addition and the reconstruction of a new glazed façade. Furthermore, we think the new rooftop penthouse is appropriate as it is not visible from the public thoroughfare with appropriate setbacks. We also support the proposed change to the entrance, as it has been executed in a subtle manner.

However, we suggest that the wing walls flanking the current entrance are integral to the original Sterner design. Therefore, we recommend their reconstruction at the at-grade entry to define the doorway as originally intended, even though they no longer serve their prior function of supporting the balustrade.
