FRIENDS' Testimony:

FRIENDS’ Preservation Committee acknowledges the building's layered architectural history as presented by the applicant, evolving from Queen Anne to a neo-Federal style. In this spirit, we do not object to the façade changes. The side entrance, however, has remained consistent throughout these stylistic transitions. We urge the applicant to respect this defining architectural element and ensure that its design aligns with the block's context, as illustrated on page 4 of the presentation.

FRIENDS supports the proposed rear yard addition and the rooftop addition. However, the proportions of the chimney extension differ between the 3D rendering and the physical mock-up, with the latter appearing bulkier. Our Preservation Committee is particularly concerned about the project's visibility from the Metropolitan Museum's front steps and requests clarification on which representation accurately reflects the proposal.
