The Board of Directors of FRIENDS of the Upper East Side Historic Districts is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Levy as Executive Director. Ms. Levy holds Masters of Science degrees in both Historic Preservation and Urban Planning from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. In addition to her sound academic grounding she has had solid practical experience working with community groups in such neighborhoods as Park Slope and Crown Heights in Brooklyn, and the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Her skills and experience will be invaluable as FRIENDS advances its preservation planning agenda across our historic East Side neighborhoods.
In November Ms. Levy was invited to speak about the history of zoning as one of three featured speakers on a televised panel hosted by Council Member Ben Kallos about the issue of super tall skyscrapers rising in our neighborhood. To see the panel, please click here or watch the video above.
