The north blocks of Fifth Avenue are a quasi-institutional acropolis, a cluster of museums and medical organizations that settled on Central Park at the start of the 20th century.

Join FRIENDS and architectural historian Matt Postal on a walking tour featuring these distinguished edifices, including the Academy of Medicine, the Heckscher Foundation for Children (now Museo El Barrio), Flower-Fifth Avenue Hospital, and the Africa Center. Our route will include a peek inside the Conservatory Gardens, which displays relics from two Gilded Age mansions.
