Lenox Hill Moderns

Join FRIENDS for an exciting new series of walking tours that explore the rich legacy of modernist architecture and design on the Upper East Side.

From the Art Deco era to Postmodernism, architectural historian Matt Postal will lead a lively and varied walking tour of the East 60s and 70s, highlighting overlooked and sometimes under-appreciated mid-to-late 20th century apartment buildings, institutions, and townhouses designed by such noted architectural firms as Blum & Blum, Kohn Pederson & Fox, and Tsien & Williams. Our route includes buildings associated with John D. Rockefeller II, a notable white brick apartment house (or two), a bubble brownstone, and even a notorious "sliver" building.
