Since 1961, incentive zoning has left an indelible mark on Manhattan’s skyline. While commonly associated with Midtown, the Upper East Side also features seventy-five late twentieth-century buildings incorporating Privately Owned Public Spaces (POPS), often overlooked and underutilized.

Join FRIENDS and architectural historian Matt Postal on a walking tour examining this zoning program's mixed legacy. See diverse examples, from landscaped plazas, seating areas, and, oddly enough, driveways, to unique spaces like "Steel Park," a 1980 sculptural environment by Tony Rosenthal.
