Family Walking Tour: Historic Yorkville

Join FRIENDS’ Director of Education Heidi Carey for a fun, interactive family experience touring the sights and sounds of historic Yorkville. Embark on a virtual walking tour of significant homes, tenement buildings, houses of worship, and stores that reflect the historic presence of German, Hungarian, and Czech immigrants on the Upper East Side.

From an 1830 farmhouse to the old site of Jacob Ruppert’s brewery, let’s discover together the evidence of these immigrant communities and learn how food, music, language, and religion brought them together.

This 45-minute virtual tour is an adaptation of a lesson in our Yorkville Immigration Education Program and is geared to kids of all ages and parents alike!
