Join FRIENDS, Art on the Ave, and Manhattan Sideways on January 14th for a neighborhood stroll to discover some of the sites featured in our exhibition BEYOND THE BRICKS. The walking tour will begin at our temporary gallery space, upstairs at 966 Lexington Avenue, and then continue through the East 70s and 80s, visiting some of the businesses and buildings featured in the project, as well as sites featuring work by local artists. Some hidden neighborhood gems, and some mainstays of the community, each has a story to tell.
The Beyond the Bricks project highlights the Upper East Side's vibrant small business culture and neighborhood history, featuring the stories of small business owners and the historic buildings in which they are located. Paired with work by local artists, these elements come together to spark conversations about the unique character of the Upper East Side, and what makes a community "beyond the bricks."
